Calm

Hey everyone,

Yesterday I attended a Yoga Retreat that was set up by our Royal College for local GPs. I really enjoyed the day. It actually came at just the right time as I was feeling a tad bit stressed and overwhelmed with work and all the other things that life comes with. I absolutely loved being able to actually take time to do yoga and just do something different with my day and slow down- for once!

I actually love yoga and have been doing it for many years, although of late I have found it difficult to pause and find the time. This actually reminded myself how much I enjoy the practice of yoga and I am going to make a conscious effort to try incorporate it into my week on a regular basis.

It was such a valuable opportunity to slow down and properly reset. The centre it was held out as well was all about wellness and it felt so calm that you just felt zen stepping into the place. Taking time to calm my thoughts and practise mindfulness felt especially meaningful, as it’s something I’ve been interested in since medical school and something we so often encourage our patients to do. Yet, like many of us, it’s easy to let it slip when clinical weeks get busy. Creating even a small, intentional space for wellbeing feels so important, particularly in the early years of practice. It was a really grounding and restorative way to step back, reflect, and head into the week ahead with a little more balance.

Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday.

With love,

Amina xo
