Hey everyone,
Just catching up with a few things and mostly catching up on sleep. It’s 12.42 here in Seoul so that’s 03.42 GMT. I had an amazing evening yesterday and looking forward to going out to explore today.
I’m heading to Myeongdong as I really enjoyed browsing there last time, and there is a café there that does the most amazing matcha- which I want to visit again.
So anyway, need to just finish a few things and get ready to leave. But before that, I’ve had quite an interesting few hours of soul searching and reading and reflecting. Part of that obviously has to involve Rumi, as I just love his poetry. It’s strange how you read something a million times but it finally makes sense to me now.
The said quote is below:
I don’t love you with my heart and mind. I love you with my soul, in case my mind forgets and my heart stops.
Although often attributed to Rumi, the exact wording doesn’t appear in his verified works, but it does express ideas that echo his Sufi philosophy of love.
This really got me thinking about a few things- about souls and love.
There is a kind of love that doesn’t live in the heart or the mind, it lives in something deeper. Our minds wander, they forget. Our hearts, as brave as they are, can grow tired or even stop. But the soul- the soul remembers everything.
To love someone with your soul is to love them with the part of you that is eternal. It’s a love untouched by time, unshaken by change, and unbroken by distance. It’s the quiet truth beneath every heartbeat and every thought- the part of you that continues even when everything else falls away.
This quote reminds us that the most profound love isn’t driven by emotion or logic. It’s rooted in something far more enduring. When we love with the soul, we offer a devotion that outlives memory and survives beyond the fragile limits of the body. It is love in its purest, most timeless form.
I hope you all have an amazing day whatever you’re doing. Time for me to quickly get ready and leave my hotel.
With love,
Amina xo
