Life is a funny thing. I slept for not very many hours and since waking I have heard some brilliant news for a friend and her business and also heard an old friend from the past has been diagnosed with cancer.

I just stopped in my tracks. I opened a message whilst waiting to order an omelette for breakfast. Cancer is one of those evils that I hate. I do not hate anything in life.

But, cancer is a monster.

Unfortunately, throughout my 14 years of medical training and even before this I have seen many loved ones die of cancer including my own grandparents and also my beloved father.

I am trying not to get over emotional and keep calm, as I am leaving on a booked trip soon. However, all I can do is pray right?

And I am in the best and holiest of all places. So, Alhamdulillah.

Breathe.
