Rafiki

Morning everyone,

I managed to sleep somewhat although it has not been very restful. I was pondering on my late father’s name. My father’s name is Rafik. It actually originates from the Swahili word for Rafiki which means ‘friendship’. This must be the reason I’m drawn to Tanzania and I love The Lion King!

My father was a great friend to all. Everyone that he met, he had a charisma and charm that people would be attracted to him.

Yesterday I spoke to someone who lives on the same street as my late father- I only met him for the first time 3 days ago on Sunday.

He told me that his children were very upset and cried after my father’s death. I was shocked to hear this. At the end of the day, I had never heard about this man or his children before.

He told me that my father used to tickle and play around with his kids in the local masjid (place of worship for Muslims).

This reminded me of my dad’s smile. He had a beautiful smile and when he used to smile, the whole room would light up.

I miss you dearly Daddy.

With all my love,

Amina x
