Morning everyone,
So finishing off from where I left off yesterday. The word ‘tolerant’ for some reason stopped me in my tracks. I was laid down on a couch bed- so not literally stopped me in my tracks, more metaphorically. The aesthetician had made a comment that my skin was ‘very tolerant’ throughout this skincare package that I was having done. Let me tell you, it was a little painful at times. But, no pain without gain right?
I had always thought I was a very intolerant person. Intolerant of lying, intolerant of cheating, intolerant of rudeness, intolerant of bad manners as well as many other things. The definition of ‘intolerant’ on Google is ‘not tolerant of views, beliefs, or behaviour that differ from one’s own.’
That, then made me think about the word ‘tolerant’. Tolerant means ‘showing willingness to allow the existence of opinions or behaviour that one does not necessarily agree with.’ Most people may not realise but the skin is the largest organ of the human body. I am definitely like my skin- ‘very tolerant‘.
I now realise being a lot older than the small girl that thought I was ‘intolerant’ that I am actually a very ‘tolerant’ person. I would say this can be a strength and leads to having an open mind and empathy and does definitely help in a professional setting, but it can sometimes be emotionally draining.
Hope everyone has an amazing day!
With love,
Amina x
